Actually, make it one visit to an under-the-radar museum to see 4 great shows: the Jewish Museum! Currently on view are the outstanding Jack Goldstein retrospective (which could have & should have been at the Whitney but oh well! See it here!); Elaine Reichek’s moving and humorous Postcolonial Kinderhood Revisited; and threeASFOUR: MER KA BA, an installation based on the work of the downtown design collective. Amazing grouping of disparate generations, ideas and a forward-thinking approach to aesthetics that – from Goldstein to Reichek through threeASFOUR – forces one to consider culture in the wake of appropriation.
